Il documentario racconta 7 decenni di storia italiana attraverso le immagini di Gianni Berengo Gardin, seguendo il percorso della stesura dell’autobiografia del grande fotografo che la figlia Susanna ha scritto con lui in occasione dei suoi 90 anni.

Una rosa di amici e testimoni del suo tempo — l’architetto Renzo Piano, il fotografo Ferdinando Scianna, l’editore Roberto Koch — tracciano il ritratto dell’uomo, contribuendo ad arricchirne il profilo e la storia di vita. Il documentario ricostruisce la genesi dei suoi scatti migliori nei luoghi e nel punto esatto in cui sono stati catturati. E non solo: è anche la narrazione del rapporto tra un padre e una figlia, i conflitti, i disvelamenti, l’incontro.

Saranno presenti in sala, a ricordare Gianni Berengo Gardin, i registi Daniele Cini e Claudia Pampinella e la figlia Susanna.

The documentary recounts seven decades of Italian history through the images of Gianni Berengo Gardin, following the process behind the writing of the great photographer’s autobiography, created together with his daughter Susanna on the occasion of his 90th birthday.

A circle of friends and witnesses of his time — architect Renzo Piano, photographer Ferdinando Scianna, publisher Roberto Koch — outline a portrait of the man, enriching both his profile and life story. The documentary reconstructs the genesis of his most iconic shots, revisiting the places and the exact moments in which they were taken. And more than that: it is also a story of the relationship between a father and a daughter — its conflicts, revelations, and encounters.

Present in the theater, in memory of Gianni Berengo Gardin, will be the directors Daniele Cini and Claudia Pampinella, along with his daughter Susanna.
